Nocturnal Electrics – Mertanen, Pohjonen & Means

Friday 8 November, 9 pm
Louhi Hall, Espoo Cultural Centre

Janne Mertanen, Joonas Pohjonen & Jeffrey Means

Karlheinz Stockhausen: Kontakte (Pohjonen & Means)
Frederic Chopin: Nocturnes (Mertanen)

Mixing acoustic and electronic sounds Kontakte is a utopic 1960s tone-poem by Karlheinz Stockhausen’s. Percussionist Jeffrey Means and pianist Joonas Pohjonen encounter the work’s third “performer”, the electronic tape part generated by the composer. Also as part of the evening’s program, Janne Mertanen demonstrates his mastery in handling the sensuality of Chopin’s Nocturnes.
