Presentation by Anna Ramstedtin and piano duo Shirinyan & Zaitsev

  • Tapiola Hall foyer, Espoo Cultural Centre 2 Kulttuuriaukio Espoo, Uusimaa, 02100 Finland (kartta)

Researcher Anna Ramstedt has done groundbreaking work on problems in classical music education, from psychological violence to gendered attitudes. In her presentation, she highlights ways to identify and prevent problems and ideas on the positive potential of instrument pedagogy. The presentation will be given in Finnish.

The piano duo of Marianna Shirinyan and Alexei Zaitsev provides a favourable picture of a effective student-teacher partnership. A luminous Danish star, Shirinyan also teaches at the Royal Danish Conservatoire of Music, in addition to her work as concert pianist. Aleksei Zaitsev from Outokumpu, who has been successful in previous Maj Lind competitions, applied to become her student a year ago. They have both gained attention as spirited interpreters of Sergei Rachmaninov's music and together they will perform the young composer's first masterpiece, Suite No. 1 for two pianos.
