GOOD TO KNOW
We want to encourage everyone to come to a concert with an open mind, whether you are an experienced concert-goer or a first-time visitor. Our free concerts are events where we hope everyone will feel at home. Read here for tips on how to make your visit a success.
Programme booklet Some PianoEspoo concerts have a booklet, where you can follow the concert program as it happens. The programme booklet is free of charge and is available at the concert hall door or from the staff.
Applauding Applauding is a way of thanking the performer. But when should I applaud? It is customary to clap when the performer enters the stage and at the end of the performance. The programme booklet will tell you if there are more than one movements in a piece. If you're not sure when to clap, you can follow how others do it.
During the concert Please give the performers peace to play and the rest of the audience a chance to listen. Put your phone on silent and leave chatting with a friend for later.
Photography It is not allowed to record or video record the performances. Photographing is allowed during applause or before or after the concert. However, do not use a flash or disturb others with your photographing. If you share photos on social media, you may tag the festival in your posts (Facebook: @pianoespoofestival and Instagram: @pianoespoo).
How to dress You can come to the concert as yourself and in clothes you feel comfortable in. You don't have to dress up, but you can if you want. However, please be aware of people who are sensitive to scents: wear perfume in moderation.
Children Children are welcome with a parent. However, parents should assess whether the child has patience to listen to the whole concert in peace. You can leave between pieces if you find it difficult to concentrate.
