What happens when Angela Hewitt is given free rein to design a concert programme for herself and Tapiola Sinfonietta?
The result is an evening that beautifully highlights composers close to Hewitt’s heart, while also giving the musicians of Tapiola Sinfonietta their moment to shine – both as an orchestra and as soloists. W.A. Mozart’s beloved C major concerto, widely popularised by the film industry, is paired with a virtuosic quintet for winds and piano. Meanwhile, the string players of Tapiola Sinfonietta collaborate closely with Hewitt in J.S. Bach’s concerto and Gerald Finzi’s enchanting Eclogue. Expect a richly rewarding evening of top-class ensemble music-making.
