PianoEspoo once again spreads throughout EMMA – this time with piano duos, synthesizers, toy pianos, and the fearless musicians of Avanti! Alongside soprano Meeri Pulakka and pianists Joonas Ahonen, Emil Holmström, Lambis Pavlou, and Mirka Viitala, the program features works by Enno Poppe, Bernhard Lang, John Cage, and others.
We will also hear the world premiere of Jouni Hirvelä’s piece for two pianists. The evening will culminate in Brigitta Muntendorf’s monumental Trilogie für zwei Flügel. Adding to the sonic palette is the self-playing Yamaha Disklavier as part of the installation by Jouni Hirvelä and Tuomo Rainio.
NOTE: Audiences may move freely between and during performances. Events take place in different spaces throughout the museum. Please arrive before 19:00 if you wish to hear the final performance before the museum closes.
